The Glenlossie Distillery was formed in 1876 and for years was better known as Glenlossie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. It produces approximately 2.7 million litres of malt whisky annually which is mainly used for blends such as Haig Dimple and Haig Gold Label. The distillery is located south of Elgin in the Speyside region which has an abundance of distilleries including BenRiach, Glenfarclas and Macallan. The spirit stills at the distillery use a ‘purifier’ between the lyne arms and the condensers. This purifier acts as a mini-condenser, which returns some of the alcohol vapours back to the pot to be re-distilled. The action of ‘purifiers’ increases the amount of reflux within the stills, which results in a lighter, more delicate whisky. The distillery is owned by Diageo and shares its warehouses with Mannochmore distillery which is located right next door.

This single malt whisky was distilled in 2009 at the Glenlossie Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was then placed into three separate 1st fill ex Boyrbon barrels for no less than 13 years. Bottled with natural colour and no chill-filtration at 46% ABV from cask numbers 3392, 3396 and 3400 as part of the Signatory Vintage Un-Chillfiltered Collection.

Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name ‘Signatory’ was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found.

Signatory currently bottle at three strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF) and Cask Strength. To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.

Nose - Fresh and fruity with some malty sweetness, creamy vanilla, ripe apple and pears with some underlying citrus notes.

Palate - Orchard fruits bursting on the palate, apple and pears with hints of vanilla and citrus and plenty of wonderful spices.

Finish - Medium to long with ripe pears, vanilla and spicy oak.
