From Okinawa’s oldest distillery, founded in 1846, Shinzato Whisky combines a Scottish malt-and-grain whisky base with 13-year-old Awamori matured in oak. The result brings the strength of malt together with a delicate, soft sweetness derived from rice.
Additional maturation in new, heavily charred oak casks develops a rich, mellow character with layered vanilla aromas from both the aged Awamori and the barrel. It is bottled without chill filtration to preserve the whisky’s full aroma, flavour and texture.
