A little more detail

Before you choose.

What is the difference between Ryuka and Shinzato?

Ryuka New Born and Early Summer are made from malt spirit distilled in-house in Okinawa. Shinzato Blended Whisky combines a Scottish malt-and-grain whisky base with aged awamori. They share a producer, but have different ingredients, origins and flavour profiles.

How do the two Ryuka releases compare?

New Born 2026 was distilled in November 2024 and bottled in May 2026, offering an earlier look at the malt spirit, with apple, citrus and spice notes. Early Summer 2026 was distilled in March 2023 and bottled in April 2026, with a creamier profile of toffee, melon and caramel. New Born is a young spirit release; Early Summer is the Japanese single malt expression.

What is awamori?

Awamori is Okinawa’s traditional rice spirit. Aged awamori is a component of Shinzato Blended Whisky, contributing gentle rice sweetness alongside the whisky’s malt and oak character.

Which bottle should I start with?

For a mellow oak-and-vanilla profile suited to a highball, consider Shinzato. Choose Ryuka New Born to explore younger malt spirit, or Ryuka Early Summer for a richer, creamier single malt profile.
