Maturation - 12 months in American (17% new) and French (83% seasoned) oak hogsheads

Nose - The aromatics open with an unmistakably Penfolds stamp. Sweet spice leads the way, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and star anise unfolding alongside notes of custard tart and blueberry Danish. Dark fruit tones follow, mulberry and blueberry at the core, lifted by freeze-dried raspberries and white fig. Savoury nuance emerges with fresh leather and a subtle ferrous edge, adding gravitas and complexity. The nose is generous yet composed, rich without excess, confident and assured.

Palate - Silky and sleek, gliding across with depth and control. Flavours of pecan pie, hazelnut and berry coulis are layered with soaked sponge and summer pudding richness. Goji berry brightness lifts the mid-palate, while wet metal and mineral notes bring definition. Chalky, powder fine tannins provide structure and length, shaping a finish that is polished and persistent. A classic, powerful Shiraz of lineage and intent.
